Dentures and partial dentures have been around for many years and are still a reasonable option for many patients. A well-made Denture or Partial can give years of service. While addressing fit, comfort, and esthetics, Dr. Dhawan understands that each patient needs a different level of support, which he and his staff can accommodate.
Dr. Dhawan is involved in clinical and laboratory aspects of each denture and a partial denture made in the office. Dr. Dhawan performs the laboratory procedures in his laboratory. With his level of support, experience, and hands-on care, we assure you that your denture treatment will offer pleasing results.
Remember, how our teeth look, and how well they work, are not limited by age.
Getting Comfortable with Your Dentures
Like anything new in our lives, getting used to new dentures takes some time. You have an entirely new object in your mouth; a mouth full of new teeth, where you may have had very few teeth remaining prior to being fitted for your dentures. It stands to reason there will be an adjustment period.
Here are a few things to remember about adjusting to your new dentures:
- Your new upper dentures (top ones) will be easier to get used to than the new lower dentures. The new upper dentures are near enough to your palate (the roof of your mouth) that you can use suction to help keep them in place. This will help to form a seal around the rim of your new dentures, keeping hold them more firmly seated than your new lower.
- Your new lower dentures will take more time to seat comfortably and securely. Your lower denture sits on the ridge of your lower jaw bone, meaning there is little to hold them down tight. Until you adapt and adjust, wearing a new lower can take more time to adapt than wearing upper dentures.
- Custom fitted dentures will fit far better and will be easier to wear – right from the beginning.
While it always takes time to adjust to new dentures, the custom dentures you receive from Dr. Dhawan will fit much better than those from other dental offices.
