It may seem that we address this subject too often but, because we are asked about it regularly in our Littleton area prosthodontist office, the question of teeth in a day must be addressed. With this in mind, one of the more common questions we’re asked is “Can I get new teeth in just one day, or just one visit?”

The answer to this question is an emphatic, “Maybe.”

Of course, not every patient we speak with is happy with this answer, and we have television, radio, and internet advertising to thank for this. As with any medical procedure, there is no “One size fits all solution,” and tooth replacement therapies are no different. While some patients merely need a cracked tooth capped, others may need total tooth replacement with dental implants, a surgical procedure which may require extensive healing time.

Having said this, it is also true that we may be able to place your new teeth onto your new implants on the same day they are put in place however, the bone beneath, as well as the surrounding tissues, will require time to heal. Once the healing process is complete, usually within three to six months depending on the patient, your replacement teeth will require adjustment for the best fit possible.

Dental Implants in One Visit

Whether we place full dentures, partial dentures, or a bridge you’re your new dental implants; whether we place one, three, or five implants into your jaw to anchor your prosthetic teeth; the area surrounding your new dental implants will always require time to heal. The advertising promoting “teeth in a day” fails to mention this, of course, and many patients have come to believe that replacing their teeth in a single visit is as simple as getting a car wash. This is not so.

Our goal is to provide you with the best, most accurate information available, allowing you to make the best possible choice – a clear choice, if you will – about the tooth replacement therapy that will be of the greatest benefit to you.
