One of the unique features of the dentures we make in our Littleton office is that we fabricate them in-house. In fact, Dr. Maroney handles every aspect of the measuring, fitting, and fabrication of your new dentures. This is unusual, since most offices simply take a mold of your mouth and send it to a lab for fabrication.
Instead, Dr. Maroney is very “hands-on”, creating custom designed and fitted dentures that you simply cannot get elsewhere in the Denver metro area.
Custom Dentures by Dr. James Maroney
A denture is a removable appliance that is inserted into the mouth, replacing natural teeth and providing support for the cheeks and lips. Most dentures are made of acrylic and can be fabricated two different ways.
Conventional dentures are made after all your teeth have been extracted, and after the tissues and gums have had time to heal. An immediate replacement is fabricated prior to the extractions, then placed immediately after the procedure has been performed, allowing the tissues beneath to heal.
An upper denture will typically have a flesh colored acrylic that covers the palate (roof of the mouth), while a lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe, leaving room for the tongue. The “false teeth” of your denture are made of plastic or porcelain, or a combination of the two. Full dentures are held in place against the gums by suction or with denture adhesives.
A removable partial denture is custom designed for each individual, containing as many replacement teeth as needed to fill the gaps left by the teeth you’ve lost. Partials are attached to healthy neighboring teeth with unobtrusive clasps. You’ll look better, feel better about yourself, and enjoy all the benefits of a strong, healthy smile.
Thanks to modern technology, we can create completely natural-looking, attractive dentures that will help you chew and speak with ease. These custom dentures can reduce any anxiety you have about missing teeth and allow you to go about your daily activities with confidence.
